Soap&Glory - New Kick Ass Blur & Brighten concealer crayon review!

As a huge fan of Soap&Glory products, I was excited to come across this new product.

What it promises: "This multi-action, no-nonsense concealer crayon blurs imperfections and banishes shadows for a flawless finish. With long-lasting coverage that leaves skin looking revived and refreshed."

What I found. As I usually have problems with colour matching my pale complexion, I was pretty impressed that the 'Light' suited me so well. The packaging was also a super cute compact crayon. The product had a medium but felt lightweight and creamy . This really is a fabulous product, it can be used to highlight or brighten yet cover blemishes, all for £6.00 - perfect!

Have you guys tried this yet? what do you think?

A lorra' lorra' lip balms.

They are a beauty staple, here are a few of my favourites.

First up...the everyday one. For me it's really important that it's small and compact enough to fit into anywhere from my clutch bag to my jacket pocket. When you're out n' about, the wind and the sun play havoc on your lips so it's essential to choose something nourishing and with a SPF. I've chosen Carmex Moisturising Lip Balm which at £2.89 is super affordable. It feels great, isn't thick or waxy, leaves a sheen on your lips and is also available in a pot instead of a tube. Perfect for the everyday look.

Second up...for those times when your lips need some TLC, when you have sore, cracked lips that are just too much for a regular lip balm. I use Blistex Medplus Repairing Lip Balm at £2.30 - I love this stuff. It soothes and has a menthol feel to it. Plus, with its nourishing jojoba oil and cocoa butter, it feels like a pretty luxurious 'medicine'.

Third up...the cute one. Ok we're still girls at the end of the day and I dunno about you but I still can't resist the urge to buy something based on its 'cute-factor'. For this I present to you...the Smooch Operator Lip Butter Balm at £5.00. Let's face it, Soap&Glory products always smell pretty great and this is no exception. It's full of goodness with things like wild mango butter and vitamin E, plus argan and rose hip oils. And if that wasn't enough...the product is pink, need I say any more?

Next up...the one for people that like to take a natural approach - as fewer chemicals can only be a good thing. For this I've chosen Dr Organic Vitamin E Lip Balm at £3.49! They claim that 'Dr.Organic utilises only the finest natural and organic raw materials wherever possible' and to be honest I was actually really impressed with the quality of it. The product contains beeswax so it clings to the lips without feeling sticky and doesn't leave a sheen. Also, it would be perfect to use under lipstick.

Now for ...The tinted one. All the nourishing of a lip balm with a  pop of colour, the perfect answer to chapped lips and those who feel bare without a splash of colour. I absolutely love Barry M Cor Barmy Lip Balm'.  I sometimes feel that tinted lip balms don't give enough colour or only come in a couple of shades, however this beauty is available in 4 gorgeous colours, I chose 'Rosie Lea'.

And finally, just because its cute...

Products I regret buying.

So you come home after a visit to your local drug store only to find that the thing you bought you suddenly hate for some reason - yes girls we've all been there, it's a disappointing feeling to say the least.

Here are a few products I purchased recently and that ended up in the bin!

1. Loreal Skin 15 second skin perfection miracle cleansing oil for face and eyes - £5.33
Initially I was attracted to this product because it was on offer (come on, we all love a good bargain) and I needed a new make up remover anyway.  Actually it does actually live up to its claims in that it removes make up well.  However the oily texture ended up getting into my eyes, which would leave my vision blurred for a while - not ideal!

2. Soap&Glory - Peaches and clean 3-in-1 wash off deep purifying cleanser - £5.33

It pains me that Soap&Glory is on my product regret list, I'm usually a huge fan, which lead me to buying this cleanser. Firstly this product smelt great, like fresh peach juice - yummy! I just felt that it didn't DO anything, didn't foam, didn't take make up off, just .....nothing...

3. Nivea daily essentials refreshing daily toner - £2.55
If I'm totally honest, my initial hopes for this product weren't high. I'm generally quite sceptical about toners as they strip you skin of natural oils - and this was no exception. It was too perfumed for me, an overwhelming powdery-type smell and sure enough was very harsh on the skin, left my face feeling sore!

4. Lush - Ultrabland facial cleanser - £6.95

I usually really love Lush cleansers, I love that they use all natural ingredients generally not irritating for my skin. However i really didn't like this one, it felt way too greasy for me (think a melted block of oily wax) the cleanser was really hard to remove from my face and my hands too. It left me feeling somewhat frustrated for what should be a simple cleansing routine.

5. Eau Thermale Avene Ultra Rich Cleansing Gel  - £8.00
If you read my problem skin post, you would know that I am a big fan of the traditional cold cream. So you can imagine my delight when I found this! I really like the Eau Thermale Avene range. Although this gel was way too 'soap-like' it was very foamy and really stung my eyes, even when it was washed off.

6. Botanics Organic Facial Oil - £4.99
While wandering around Boots one evening, I came across this.  It caught my attention because I know rosehip is great for the skin and seemed like a way cheaper alternative to others I had been looking at. I really felt like this did nothing for me yet being an oil I had hoped it would hydrate my dry skin but no...it just sat on my skin, certainly not for me!

7. Masks - Boots - Botanics Quenching Face Mask
I bought this a while ago as I love a good face mask - however this really dint hydrate my skin, it was more like a moisturiser than a mask - didn't feel pampered at all.

Am I the only one that hates throwing out products, even if you didn't like them? hehe

My favourite (and not so favourite) Soap and Glory products

Well, where do I start ...I've been a huge fan of Soap and Glory for years, I'm always the one rushing to Boots on arrival of a new product range, so I thought I'd share my experiences of my favourites and the ones I wouldn't be rushing out to buy again any time soon..

First up, my every day moisturiser..

For Daily Youth Moisture Lotion

This is a really great product all round, it smells good (but isn't overly perfumed) the consistency is great, its nourishing and light but not too greasy. A good base for make up, or would feel very comfortable in the summer on bare skin. The only thing stopping it being absolutely perfect (in my opinion) is that it doesn't have an SPF which is essential in the fight against wrinkles :)

This retails for £12.00.

Here's a pic of what to look out for ;)
For Daily Youth™ Moisture Lotion

next up is...

The Ultimelt

This Hot Cloth Cleanser is wonderful, the consistency is luxurious used with the muslin cloth it gives a good deep cleanse, smells great like essential oils, a little piece of luxury in your day, its a really nice product to have in your daily routine.
The Ultimelt™

RRP £10.00

Beauty Sleep Accelerator

This is AMAZING, I honestly cant rate it enough, use this as part of your night time routine, after taking off your make up for the day and your face is all fresh and clean (great feeling) pop this on get your beauty sleep and you wake up with fresh dewy skin that feels great. They also recommend that you use it before a long haul flight.

It smells great, again it has a peachy scent that's pleasant yet not overwhelming , the consistency isn't too heavy, as with most night creams. It feels as though its working and all you've got to do is sleep!

RRP £13.00

next up...shower time with...

CLEAN, GIRLS

Love love this body wash, not only does it smell pretty, its very reasonably priced and it has a built in moisturising element, which actually leaves you feeling like you've applied a light moisturiser when you get out of the shower, absolutely perfect for girls on the go...

RRP £6.50

CLEAN, GIRLS™

next up a little bit of...

..PULP FRICTION

not to be confused with the Quentin Tarantino movie. Pulp Friction is my number one body exfoliator, the reason that I love this one more than the others (which are still pretty fab by the way) this firstly smells GREAT, a fresh and pretty scent. The consistency almost "clings to you" which sounds kinda weird but do you ever get that moment when you squeeze a product into your hand, you move or jolt your hand and it just ....slides off, onto the shower floor ....I don't know if this is just me (hopefully not).

You can really feel this working, it scrubs without damaging your skin, it gets rid of those ugly dead skin cells which makes your skin appear dull and it leaves you super soft and smooth ready for your moisturiser...

RRP £8.00

and finally after all that washing and scrubbing, you'll want to finish it off with a moisturiser....I cant help but have two favourites....one's a butter and the other a lotion ...

THE RIGHTEOUS BUTTER

Love this as an every day moisturiser, for days when I'm leaving my house at the time I should already be wherever I have to be, frantically assuring my friends "I'm definitely leaving my house in 5" while my hair is still wet and my outfit unplanned......

a perfect lotion to slather on as soon as you're out of the shower, it sinks in almost straight away, smells gorgeous, like 'silk in a bottle' and comes in a never ending 500ml size, perfect!

RRP £10.00

BUTTER YOURSELF

This is a super rich indulgent yummy body butter, smells absolutely amazing (as usual) this is definitely a pamper product (or an everyday product for the more organised)  super simple yet effective. Will have those rough patches smooth in no time at all.

RRP £10.50

Those are my all time tried and tested every day products, that I've purchased time and time again, enjoy.

Now for the rare occasions, products I wouldn't purchase again.......

  1. For those who are aren't familiar with Soap and Glory they come in 5 different scents.
ORIGINAL PINK
MIST YOU MADLY
FRUITIGO
CREAM TEAM
SUGAR CRUSH

personally I hate the smell of SUGAR CRUSH its supposed to smell like kaffir lime, lemons, mandarin with sweet vanilla musk and coconut ....I just think its an odd smell and wouldn't purchase anything in that range.

     2.  Peaches and Clean, 3-in-1 Wash-off Deep Purifying Cleanser.
This didn't remove my make up as it claims and felt like it wasn't really doing anything, let along wash my face. The only thing I can say about this product is its quite moisturising and smells yummy.

That's it...Let me know your favourite Soap & Glory product :)
