Blogger problems | Fighting Blogger Block.

So we've all been there, doesn't matter if you are a fully fledged blogger or you're just starting out. You get out your laptop, sit down to create a wonderful, fantastic, awe-inspiring blog and then...nothing: your brain totally shuts down and every thought you had has vanished, nowhere to be seen. So, what do you do? Well, here are my tips for combating the 'blogger block'.

Take inspiration from other bloggers

Sometimes all you need is to look around at other bloggers, whether it's their content or just the layout. They may have created a fantastic series or post that may just jog your memory or leave you with inspiration to create your own. Note; it's important to never copy content.

Social Media
Now this may seem a bit obvious, but really dedicate some time to looking through social media, engage with blogger chats. Sometimes even the smallest comment can give you an idea for a blog.

If you see another blogger with a problem and you know the answer, write a post on it! I love seeing this, when we all help out each other, like 'blogger sista's'

Read through magazines

It doesn't even need to be glossy magazines, places like Boots do a great Free magazine that has loads of idea's on what's on trend and what people are talking about at the moment. Maybe pair up with a friend: you buy some magazines each month, she buys some, then swap!

Take a break
Sometimes dedicating a strict amount of time to a blog will put a bunch of pressure on you which will more than likely kill your initial inspiration. You might start a blog several times and just hate everything you've written. So, take a break, get outside, take some fresh air and start again. Quite often this is all it takes.

Dont think about it
You're probably thinking, huh? How can I think of a blog if I'm not thinking about it?! The best idea's often come to you when you're snuggled up in bed, totally relaxed or, when you've run that nice hot bath, sipping a glass of wine. This is no coincidence, just relax, if you have the ideas but are stressing to think of them, it won't help.

...and if all else fails...

Wait until tomorrow
Put the laptop away and wait until tomorrow. Dont be pressured into thinking you HAVE to think, write and edit a blog/post every single day. If you force yourself to write your content, the quality will suffer. Remember..."quality over quantity".

What are your tips on fighting the dreaded 'blogger block?'

  1. Brilliant post! I know exactly how it feels to sit at my laptop in front of a blank page. I'll definitely bookmark this for later.
I always turn to magazines for help if I am uninspired (or the websites of various magazines!). You never know what small thing could inspire you to come up with a new post.
